This is a Urinary Tract Infection Test (MSU). It involves microscopy, culture and sensitivity testing of the urine for infection. If an infection is found, then the correct antibiotics can be recommended.
Why do the Urinary Tract Infection Test (MSU)? Typical symptoms of urinary tract infection can include pain whilst passing urine, passing urine more frequently, and having urgency to pass urine quickly. Occasionally people can also experience back or lower abdominal pain, or see blood in the urine.
There is no need for an appointment to do the Urinary Tract Infection Test (MSU). After ordering it, you will receive a confirmation message with a map and directions attached. You can then go to Patient Reception at The Doctors Laboratory to give the sample. The laboratory is open 7am – 7pm weekdays and 7am-1pm on Saturdays.
Time taken: 3-4 working days *
Results of your Urinary Tract Infection Test (MSU) will be e-mailed to you with a doctor's explanation of what the result means. The doctor can also prescribe antibiotics if needed for an additional administration fee.
* Indicative timings only. Actual result may be earlier or slightly later.
