Why do this test?
The Thrush & Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) Test is most useful when women have a vaginal discharge from an unknown cause. It is sometimes difficult to tell if you have a fungal (candida) or bacterial infection based on the symptoms, or the appearance and smell of the vaginal discharge. This test will tell you for sure which one it is so that you can get the correct treatment.
NB. Please note that Thrush & Bacterial Vaginosis (BV) Test does NOT screen for STIs (Sexually Transmitted Infections). You should do an STI screen if you suspect that you have an STI.
How to do this test:
This test is done at Patient Reception at The Doctors Laboratory. You will be shown to a cubicle with 2 types of swab and will need to do the vaginal swabs yourself.
