Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea Vaginal Screen | Swab STD Testing
Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea Vaginal Screen
The Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea Vaginal Screen is a private, clinic-based chlamydia and gonorrhoea vaginal swab test for women. It is designed to check for two common bacterial sexually transmitted infections using a vaginal swab sample.
This vaginal STI screen may be suitable for routine STI screening, reassurance after possible exposure, testing after unprotected sex, or investigation of symptoms such as vaginal discharge, pelvic discomfort or pain when passing urine.

Sample type: Vaginal swab

What This Test Includes
Vaginal Swab
The vaginal swab checks for chlamydia, one of the most common bacterial STIs. Chlamydia may not always cause symptoms, so testing can still be useful even if you feel well.
The vaginal swab also screens for gonorrhoea, a bacterial STI that can affect the genital tract and may require treatment if detected.
Why Choose This Vaginal STI Screen?
Focused Chlamydia & Gonorrhoea Testing

Vaginal Swab Testing for Women
Vaginal swab testing may be preferred for women when screening for chlamydia and gonorrhoea, particularly if symptoms such as vaginal discharge are present.
Suitable With or Without Symptoms
Chlamydia and gonorrhoea may not always cause noticeable symptoms, so testing can still be useful for routine screening and reassurance.

When Should I Test?
Chlamydia and gonorrhoea have incubation periods before they can be reliably detected. Testing too early may increase the chance of a false negative result.
- Recommended timing: testing is generally most reliable from around 7-14 days after possible exposure
- Earlier testing: if testing is performed too early, repeat testing may sometimes be advised
- Symptoms: if you have symptoms, testing should not be delayed
Please note: If you develop symptoms such as vaginal discharge, pelvic pain, genital sores or discomfort when passing urine, medical advice is recommended.
