This is a blood screening test for some of the most important STIs:
Why do this test? This blood test may be done to screen for some the most important STIs if a test for HIV has already been done. If HIV testing has not already been done or ordered separately, then please click here for a better test that includes HIV testing.
There is no need for an appointment to do the Hepatitis & Syphilis Blood Test. After paying for the test online, you will receive a confirmation message with a map and directions attached. You can then go to Patient Reception at The Doctors Laboratory to give the sample. The laboratory is open 7am – 7pm weekdays and 7am-1pm on Saturdays.
Time Taken: 1 working day *
Results of your hepatitis & syphilis blood test will be e-mailed to you with a doctor's explanation of what the result means.
This test does not test for HIV which can be transmitted in the same way as hepatitis and syphilis. The current national recommendations are to test for HIV when screening for other STIs. If you have not already been tested for HIV, then it would be advisable to do a different screening test instead that includes it.
* Indicative timings only. Actual result may be earlier or slightly later.
