There was news this week of a British man being the first to be diagnosed with a strain of gonorrhoea which is resistant to all antibiotics that are usually used to treat the disease.
Gonorrhoea is an important disease not only because it causes symptoms such as discharge and pain with passing urine, but also because it can cause long term health problems.
Prevention, of course, is better than cure, and it's easy enough to get screened. The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV include gonorrhoea as an essential test in their screening recommendations. It is therefore a component of both our Essential and Comprehensive STI Screens as well as the individual tests listed below.
